We are excited to announce our first Sammy Award honoree and special guest, Los Angeles County Supervisor for District Three, the Honorable Sheila Kuehl !

Supervisor Kuehl was first elected to the Board of Supervisors in 2014 becoming the first openly LGBTQ+ person to ever serve on the Board, and was re-elected in 2018 with over 75% of the vote! Before her service to the County, she served Santa Monica and region in the California State Senate and State Assembly. We are grateful for her many years of service to the Democratic Party, Santa Monica, and for being such an incredible champion of progressive causes!

The Sammy Awards is the Santa Monica Democratic Club’s annual fundraiser where we will honor and hear from Democratic leaders committed to our Santa Monica Values. We expect a big turnout at this year’s event as our members gear up for the midterm elections!

Our goal is to raise $20,000 to fund election mailers and GOTV efforts. Election mailers provide our club recommendations to Santa Monica voters for ballot measures and candidates. This year, we’re focusing our GOTV activities on critical, swing district congressional races supporting Christy Smith in the San Fernando Valley and Jay Chen in Orange County, among others.

Food and beverages will be available at the event. Non-members can become members for the remainder of 2022 through the purchase of a Sammy Awards ticket, allowing participation in critical upcoming club endorsement votes on candidates and ballot measures.
