Rob Bonta was appointed to the position of Attorney General by Governor Newsom, following Xavier Becerra joining the Biden Administration. Born to a proud Filipina immigrant, he is the first Filipino American to serve as California’s Attorney General.

From efforts tackling gun violence to securing criminal sentences, his efforts leading the California Department of Justice have drawn praise from political observers and journalists alike. Bonta’s priorities include stopping gun violence, protecting our civil rights, protecting reproductive freedom and healthcare, more safety and fairness in our criminal justice system, supporting our immigrant community, taking on big polluters, and standing up to powerful interests who cheat consumers. 

Attorney General Bonta will join the Santa Monica Democratic Club on Wednesday evening for an open Q&A on all of the issues facing the California Department of Justice.
