ICYMI: Rep. Ted Lieu & Airport Discussion
We had a jam packed meeting last night with our biggest turnout in almost 18 months! Thanks to all who joined us, especially the first time attendees. We hope to see you again at the next meeting.
In Case You Missed It 👀
, you can check out the full video from last night’s meeting here:
We were joined by Representative Ted Lieu, who shared his candid perspective on the dire situation in Washington, DC., and what Democrats are actually doing to rein in the fascist Trump Administration.
We also held our annual Executive Board election, and we elected four new members onto the 2025 board.
And we were joined by Frank Gruber, Vivian Rothstein, Bradley Ewing, and David Pettit, who shared differing perspectives on what Santa Monica should do with the Airport land once it closes to aviation use in 2028. We then kicked off our Ad Hoc Airport Committee to study the options in depth and recommend a position for the Club to take.
We will hold a special meeting of the Club on May 28 via Zoom to consider the three options presented by Sasaki, the park developer. And we will hold a couple of meetings of the Airport Committee, also via Zoom, between now and June, before finally voting to take a position at our June membership meeting.
