October 29 Membership Meeting

We had a packed meeting last night at the Santa Monica Democratic Club!

We were joined by three statewide candidates seeking our endorsement for the June primary: LACCD Trustee Nichelle Henderson (State Superintendent candidate), Sausalito Councilmember Janelle Kellman (Lieutenant Governor candidate), and Senator Ben Allen (Insurance Commissioner candidate). We’ll endorse in these races in the spring.

We heard from two of our county level representatives – Supervisor Lindsey Horvath and Assessor Jeffrey Prang – and endorsed both for re-election (full results below).

We approved a brand new look for our website – santamonicademocrats.com – launching this week!

And we heard a presentation from Dianne Woelke of Safe and Healthy Playing Fields. We will consider a resolution banning artificial turf on City-owned land at our November 12 meeting.

Our next meeting, the final Membership Meeting of the year, is just two weeks away.

We’ll be joined by Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs (Lieutenant Governor candidate), Asm. Al Muratsuchi (Superintendent candidate), Asm. Mike Gipson (Board of Equalization candidate), and Eric Strong (LA Sheriff candidate). And we will consider a resolution to ban artificial turf on City-owned land in Santa Monica.
