The Los Angeles County Democratic Party (LACDP) is honoring Santa Monica Democratic Club co-President, Maryanne Solomon, as Democrat of the Year in the 50th Assembly District. Celebration of the honor will be at LACDP’s annual Roosevelt Dinner on November 8.
Activist Democrats, two from each Assembly District in Los Angeles County, are selected annually. This year, Maryanne’s work is being recognized. In addition to leading the Democratic Club for the last 3 years, Maryanne has been highly involved in local election efforts for all races – City Council, Rent Control Board, School Board and Santa Monica College Board. She has worked on congressional campaigns, in joint Democratic Club offices during presidential election years, and on local ballot measures. She has also been a delegate to the State Democratic Party’s annual convention. Participating in educational issues, from her earliest days in Santa Monica, has continued to be an important part of her local activism.
Maryanne joins Santa Monica Mayor Kevin McKeown, activist and former Councilmember Dolores Press, and former Planning Commissioner and longtime Democratic Club President Julie Dad who have been so honored during recent years.
