January 28: Katie Porter and more statewide candidates

The first few days of 2026 have made one thing clear: this administration is reckless, dangerous, and completely unaccountable. From illegal military escalation abroad to deadly ICE violence on our streets, Americans are furious, and they should be. The question now is how we turn that anger into power. That work starts at our first SMDC meeting of the year on January 28th.

We will hear from five more candidates seeking the Club’s endorsement ahead of the June primaries. We will be joined by former Representative Katie Porter (candidate for Governor), CA Chief Service Officer Josh Fryday (candidate for Lieutenant Governor), former Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (candidate for Superintendent), San Diego USD Trustee Richard Barrera (candidate for Superintendent), and Sam Sukaton (candidate for Board of Equalization).
