At our endorsement meeting on Wednesday, September 3, the Santa Monica Democratic Club voted to endorse the following candidates:

City Council: Sue Himmelrich and Kevin McKeown
School Board: Laurie Lieberman, Ralph Mechur, Oscar de la Torre , and Richard Tahvildaran-Jesswein
College Board of Trustees: Barry Snell, Louise Jaffe, and Nancy Greenstein
Rent Control Board: Nicole Phillis, Steve Duron, and Todd Flora

SMDC Meets on Healthcare Initiative

SANTA MONICA DEMOCRATIC CLUB MEETS ON HEALTHCARE INITIATIVES

Please join the SM Democratic Club for a discussion of the upcoming election Healthcare Initiatives.

Executive Board members, Dr. Sion Roy and Genise Schnitman will discuss changing the malpractice cap and giving Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones the authority to regulate insurance premiums prices – fundamental aspects of the Healthcare system.

Also, club members’ recommendations for future projects/priorities of the Santa Monica Democratic Club will be discussed. We want to hear from you!

Public Invited, light refreshments, free parking, no charge.

SM Democratic Club Endorsements

On April 23, 2014 the Santa Monica Democratic Club proudly endorsed the following candidates for the June 3rd election.

Derek Cressman for Secretary of State
Sheila Kuehl for County Supervisor

We also endorsed Jerry Brown for Governor, Gavin Newsom for Lt. Governor, Kamala Harris for Attorney General, John Chiang for Treasurer, Dave Jones for Insurance Commissioner, and Tom Torlakson for Superintendent of Public Instruction.

In a field of 7 candidates, there was no consensus for a Congressional candidate. 60% is required for endorsement.

We hope to see you on May 14 in the Main Library at 6:30pm where there will be endorsements for Controller, State Senator, and Assembly.

Members of the Santa Monica Democratic Club will vote to endorse candidates for the June 3rd Primary Election.

The club will bestow its critical endorsement on candidates for Congress (33rd District), LA County Supervisor (3rd District), Secretary of State, Governor , Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Treasurer, Insurance Commissioner, Board of Equalization, and Secretary of Education
